Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a combination of integrative psychotherapy and hypnotherapy. Sessions are focused on creating solutions and goal setting, followed by relaxing, calming hypnosis. We don't focus on the past or problems, which can feel strange at first but is freeing and productive. Sessions can be offered in person in Old Trafford or online, via Zoom.
Your first session
In your first session, we will get to know each other. I will find some information about your concerns and what has brought you to see me. I tell you about the Solution Focused approach and also teach you a bit about the brain and how anxiety, depression and other conditions are created. This gives us a blueprint of what we will work on over the next few weeks.
After the session, I will send you a hypnosis audio to listen to each day. My clients love listening to this and say that it is relaxing, improves their sleep and helps them feel more alert and calm.
Subsequent sessions
After the first session, our sessions follow a similar format; we reflect on the past week, we think about the brain and how this relates to how we are feeling, we set an achievable goal for the week ahead and you enjoy a relaxing, positive hypnosis session. Hypnotherapy is fast-acting and most people have between six and twelve sessions, although we decide and review this together.
If you have come to see me about a phobia, we may have a smaller number of sessions and we utilise a technique that can help to take the emotion out of events related to your fear, which helps to remove the phobia. We also use another technique that helps you visualise confronting your phobia feeling calm and confident.
If you come to see me about smoking, we only have two sessions. In the first session, we discuss your old smoking habits, the benefits of quitting and set a quit date (your next session). You listen to my calming hypnotherapy audio in between the sessions to reduce stress. In the second session, we recap your reasons for quitting and you enjoy a calm, positive hypnosis session which helps reset your mind and reduce cravings. We then celebrate that you are a non-smoker!
(Please note: results vary and client commitment is necessary).
I can support you through integrative psychotherapy which utilises a number of methods including Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Coaching, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique and Transactional Analysis. This means that sessions, offered in Old Trafford or online can be tailored to your concerns and needs and gives you a number of concepts and tools to create change in your life.
The amount of sessions varies from person to person and this is something we would agree and review regularly. Sessions are yours and therefore we agree the agenda for each session based on what is important to you. Talking Therapy is useful for a range of issues such as bereavement, relationship concerns, stress, depression, identity issues and anxiety.
Also known as Tapping and EFT, this is a powerful yet gentle method for addressing blocks in your life or overwhelming emotions. During a session, I teach you how to tap on nine acupressure points around the body whilst talking about the concern you bring to the session. This method helps people to resolve concerns in their life, gain greater insight into their emotions and is something you will be able to use anywhere, anytime after sessions.
Some people will request only one session for a particular problem, others will have multiple sessions in order to work through multiple worries. EFT can be used for anxiety, stress, grief, low mood, phobias, trauma and sleep issues.
Counselling offers a supportive, safe space for you to explore concerns in your life. My role as your counsellor is to listen and help you understand your thoughts and feelings about situations. Sessions are focused on the present moment; how things are affecting you now and this helps you find the answers to your questions and worries. Counselling is effective for grief, relationship problems, identity issues and much more.
When I provide counselling, I usually suggest an initial six sessions and we then review together where you feel sessions may go. We have regular check-ins to review progress and agree on the next steps.
Shortened to IEMT, this therapy uses the movement of the eyes to achieve fast results and noticeable changes in feelings and ways of being. This therapy is useful for Post Traumatic Stress, identity issues and releasing unwanted feelings. In a session, we will talk about a problem you have, I ask you questions that help to frame the problem and we then go through a series of eye movements. People notice a shift in how they perceive past events or how they feel in themselves which helps to gain closure or create a better way of feeling.
This therapy can be provided in as little as one session but we would agree on the amount of sessions and review regularly to assess progress.
